A Good Idea

Today, I read something that, at first, shocked me; but then had me agreeing with it:

The former head of China's Food and Drug Administration, found guilty of taking bribes to licence fake drugs, has been executed.

Can you imagine if we imposed a sentence like that on our corrupt and dishonest government leaders?

I'm sorry, President Bush. You lied about those weapons of mass destruction in Iraq which resulted in the murder of almost 4,000 American nationals. We will be executing you tomorrow.

Government leaders would think twice before defrauding their constituency. Ethical decision making would return to the administration. Bureaucracy would dwindle. It would be good times!

But you and I both know it would never become reality here. There is way too much corruption. Heck, we can't even get House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a staunch opponent of George Bush, to introduce Articles of Impeachment. I wonder what he paid to buy her inaction?
